What Land Clearing Covers
Land clearing is the process of removing unwanted vegetation from a piece of property so it can be used. Depending on your goals, that can mean taking off everything down to bare soil, or selectively clearing underbrush and small trees while keeping the best oaks and pines. A typical job may include:
- Removing trees of all sizes and dealing with the stumps.
- Mulching or clearing brush, saw palmetto, vines and invasive growth.
- Pulling roots and debris from areas planned for building or farming.
- Opening up paths, fence lines and survey lines.
- Rough grading the cleared ground.
Two Main Approaches: Mulching or Full Clearing
Forestry mulching uses a compact track loader with a mulcher head that grinds brush and small trees in place. The chipped material stays on the ground as a protective layer that holds soil and slows weeds. It's efficient, needs no burning or hauling, and is ideal for selective clearing, trails and pasture recovery.
Full clearing removes trees, stumps and roots from the site. Trees are cut, logs are loaded with our wheel loader and log grapple, stumps are pulled or ground, and material is hauled out in the dump trailer. This is the method for house pads, driveways and anything that will sit on compacted soil. Smaller residential parcels are often handled as lot clearing.
Many properties use both: full clearing where the house and driveway go, mulching across the rest of the land.

Florida Land Types We Clear
Within our 100-mile radius around Tampa, ground conditions change a lot from one area to the next. We regularly work on:
- Pine flatwoods with slash pine and thick saw palmetto understory.
- Sand hills and scrub in places like Pasco, Hernando and Polk, where sand pine and scrub oak grow on deep, loose sand.
- Old pasture and ranch land overrun with brush, wax myrtle and young trees.
- Former citrus groves that need dead trees and rows removed before reuse.
- Wooded suburban lots with live oak, laurel oak and camphor.
Wetlands and areas near lakes or rivers can be regulated. Before clearing, check with your county and, where relevant, the water management district about permits; we can explain what is usually required.
From Cleared Ground to Ready-to-Build
Clearing is usually the first step in a bigger plan. After vegetation is off, we can move on to land leveling to fix low spots and create an even surface, or full site preparation for a building pad. Ranchers and landowners who need to get trucks and equipment back into the property can also add access road work. Keeping it all with one crew saves time and avoids gaps between contractors.
