Tree and Land Work in the Heart of Bone Valley

Mulberry grew up with the phosphate industry. The town sits in the middle of the Bone Valley district in southwest Polk County, and its railroad history and the Mulberry Phosphate Museum still tell that story. Much of the surrounding land was mined over the last century, and large tracts have since been reclaimed into pasture, lakes, wetlands and open land.

That history shapes the kind of work people here need. Instead of tight suburban lots, Mulberry has a lot of acreage: small ranches, horse properties, homes on several acres and parcels that have sat idle long enough to grow thick with brush. On those properties, the right machine matters more than anything else.

What Grows Back on Reclaimed and Idle Land

Reclaimed and long-unused ground in this part of Polk County fills in fast. Brazilian pepper, wax myrtle, willow, dog fennel, vines and saplings can turn an open field into a thicket in just a few growing seasons. Slash pines and laurel oaks seed in along the edges, and saw palmetto takes over the drier, sandier spots.

Owners usually want one of three things: to reclaim the land for grazing, to open it up for hunting, trails or recreation, or to get it ready for a home or barn. Each calls for a slightly different approach, and we will talk through your goals before recommending one.

Services Mulberry Landowners Rely On

  1. Forestry mulching. Our tracked machine shreds standing brush and saplings into chips right on the spot. There are no burn piles, and the shredded material protects the soil from washing away during summer storms.
  2. Brush clean up. For fence lines, ditch banks and yard edges, we cut back the overgrowth and remove it so you can see and maintain your property again.
  3. Land clearing. When you are building, we remove trees, stumps and roots so the site can be graded properly.
  4. Tree removal. Dead pines, split oaks and trees leaning over homes, barns and power lines are taken down safely and cleaned up.
  5. Debris removal. We haul off logs, limbs and old brush piles with our grapple loader and dump trailer.

We can also cut and grade simple access roads into the back of a property and smooth out rough ground with land leveling.

Sandy Soil, Palmetto and Wildfire Season

Mulberry's dry season runs from roughly late fall through May. During those months, overgrown pasture and palmetto scrub dry out, and a stray spark from equipment or a careless burn can start a fast-moving grass fire. Homes surrounded by brush on several sides are especially exposed.

Our fire risk reduction service creates open space around homes, barns and equipment sheds. We mulch palmetto and brush down to ground level, remove dead and leaning trees, and raise the canopy on the trees you keep so a ground fire cannot climb into them. Many owners pair this with a mowed or mulched firebreak along the property line.

After the Storm on Rural Property

Hurricanes and tropical storms that pass through central Florida can leave rural Mulberry properties with trees across driveways, fences flattened by fallen pines and pastures littered with limbs. On a big parcel, that cleanup can take weeks by hand.

With a wheel loader and log grapple, we pick up heavy trunks and stack or haul them quickly. We cut trees off fences and outbuildings, open blocked lanes so you can reach livestock, and grind stumps from uprooted trees. Summer thunderstorms and lightning strikes cause their own share of damage, and we handle those jobs as well.

FAQ

Mulberry Tree Service & Land Clearing FAQ

What is the difference between forestry mulching and land clearing?

Forestry mulching grinds brush and small trees in place and leaves a mulch layer, while most stumps and root systems stay in the ground. It is ideal for pasture, trails and fire breaks. Land clearing removes trees, stumps and roots completely, which is what you need before building a house, barn or driveway.

Can you work on reclaimed phosphate land?

Yes. We regularly clear and mulch reclaimed ground. Some of it can be soft or uneven, so we look at access and soil conditions during the estimate and choose equipment that will not get bogged down or leave deep ruts.

How can I lower the wildfire risk around my home in Mulberry?

Clear brush and palmetto from around the house and outbuildings, remove dead trees and low limbs, and keep a firebreak along the property line. We can do all of that with mulching equipment so there is nothing left to burn.

Do you remove single trees, or only clear large acreage?

Both. We take down individual dead or dangerous trees near homes and barns, and we also clear and mulch multi-acre parcels. Smaller jobs can often be scheduled alongside other work we have in the area.
