A Settled Neighborhood Under Mature Trees
Beverly Hills grew up as a retirement community north of Lecanto, and it still has the feel of a quiet, settled neighborhood: tidy single-story homes, carports and screen rooms, and streets lined with trees that were saplings when the first residents moved in. Today those trees are big. Laurel oaks, live oaks, slash pines and the occasional camphor or magnolia now tower over roofs that were built when the yards were open and sunny.
That maturity is a big part of the community's charm, but it also brings practical problems. Older laurel oaks often develop decay inside the trunk, pines grow tall enough to threaten more than one house, and roots spread under driveways and walkways. Most of our Beverly Hills calls come from homeowners who simply want to know whether a tree is still safe.
Trees That Have Outgrown Their Yards
Lots in Beverly Hills are modest in size, so a large tree rarely has room to fall anywhere harmless. A limb that would be a minor nuisance on an acre property can damage a roof, a carport or a neighbor's fence here. Signs that a tree deserves a closer look include:
- Fungus shelves or punky, crumbling wood where the trunk meets the soil
- Bare, leafless branches high in the crown
- Cracks or splits where major branches meet the trunk
- A new lean, or soil heaving on one side of the tree
- Branches resting on the roof or rubbing the gutters
If you notice any of these, we will come out and give you an honest opinion. Sometimes the answer is tree trimming to remove deadwood and lighten heavy limbs. Other times, careful tree removal is the safer choice.

Working Carefully on Close-Set Lots
Neat lawns, flower beds and nearby houses mean tree work in Beverly Hills has to be done with a light footprint. We choose equipment for the space rather than bringing the biggest machine we own. On tight lots, our bucket truck works from the street, and climbers rig limbs down with ropes so nothing drops onto the roof, the carport or the neighbor's side of the fence.
Once the tree is down, the stump grinding machine chews the stump down beneath the soil line, ready to be seeded, sodded or planted. We rake out the chips or haul them away, whichever you prefer, and our debris removal takes care of logs and brush and your Beverly Hills curb stays clear.
Roots, Driveways and Walkways
After decades of growth, oak and pine roots in Beverly Hills commonly lift concrete driveways, crack walkways and push against slab foundations or septic lines. We handle this with targeted root removal, exposing the problem roots and cutting them cleanly. Before cutting, we look at how close the roots are to the trunk, because removing major roots near the base can destabilize a tree. If that risk is too high, we will tell you, and we can discuss removing the tree instead.

Getting Ready for Storm Season
Beverly Hills sits inland, away from storm surge, but strong tropical systems still cross Citrus County, and summer thunderstorms bring sudden gusts and lightning. Older trees with internal decay are the ones that fail first. A pre-season visit to thin crowded canopies, remove dead branches and check suspect trunks is one of the best ways to lower your risk. If a storm does bring a tree down, we can remove it, grind the stump and clear the debris.
